Friends of LOMO - Annual Giving

As an individual annual donor, you are invited to become a FRIEND of Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio. FRIENDS provide $125 or more annually. Gifts may be designated for any of our camping ministries. FRIENDS giving are recognized with a plaque, donor publications and in the annual report.

Planned Giving 

A Believer's Heart ~ "Out of the believer's heart shall flow streams of living water." - John 7:38

Water flows through each of our camps with Fleming Falls at Camp Mowana, the headwaters of Alum Creek at Lutheran Memorial Camp, the shores of Lake Erie at Camp Luther, as well as swimming pools and baptismal fonts at the sites of LOMO Outreach. Wonderful images of the cleansing, renewing, and life-giving waters of Holy Baptism abound in our camping ministries.

Jesus offered living water to a Samaritan woman. "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me," Jesus said. Quoting the scriptures, he continued, "Out of the believer's heart shall flow streams of living water." We are recipients of living water and we can become sources of living water for others! The newly named Living Water Society is constructed on this image.

The Living Water Society includes many faithful stewards who have indicated that they have planned gifts for Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio or one of our camping ministries. These good stewards in life have continued the pattern in their estate planning and the final disbursal of their assets.

Gifts are typically one of three kinds (though many more options are available):

~ Bequests through a will - a specific amount or percentage of an estate earmarked for LOMO.

~ Charitable gift annuities that provide annual interest income to the donor with LOMO identified as the charitable remainder beneficiary.

~ Life insurance policies with LOMO identified as the beneficiary.

~ Property or real estate

Gifts In Memory of and In Honor of

Gifts given in memory of or honor of a person or persons, special life events (baptism, anniversary, birthday, ordination, memorials, etc.) are always appropriate. All such gifts are acknowledged in the Annual Report and to the person or persons being recognized. Include the information with your gift.

Endowment Funds

Funds have been created for each of the four camping ministries and for Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio. Endowment Fund principle is retained while the interest in used for designated needs. There's good news from Thrivent Financial for Lutheran Ministries in Ohio, camps are eligible for Thrivent matching dollars! There is a first come first serve process to the available dollars from Thrivent, so give your matching gift and send in your completed and signed forms early in the year!
